Whanau Day

Yesterday on the 26 September our school had a garden day. The students showed the community what we have been learning throughout the term. We are also getting ready to plant our Mara Kai garden full of vegetables. It was an excellent day!

Compost
What is compost?
Compost is a bin that has worm, and food scrapes. The soil is rich in nutrients for our garden.

Sustainability
This term you have completed a group project about the roles, rights and responsibilities of how people maintain sustainable food sources.

  • I have learnt how photosynthesis life cycle go’s (How air comes in and out)
What did you like about this topic?

  • I liked making my own photosynthesis, labelling it and i feel proud of my first time to discover this and creating it.

What is your role in practicing sustainability for a balanced future - at home, at school, in my community?

  • To be sustainable at home i need to put my rubbish in the bin, clean after my mess, always check if rubbish is not lying around.

  • At school i can be sustainable by using my teachers feedback for my next learning goals.

  • My role in the community is to make sure that the environment is clean and healthy.

Loud Shirt Day

Today is 'Loud Shirt' Day. This day is about supporting deaf kids. All the money will go to the deaf society so that technology can be provided to help kids hear better.We think that this is an important charity as the money will help kids like Charday in our class who is partially deaf.

What if Key?

What if food was free? Write some advantages and disadvantages.

Advantages:

  1. Always come back for more if you run out.
  2. You can eat and eat how much you want.
  3. Give Mcdonald to your kids at any time if they want it.

Disadvantages:

  1. Get sick.
  2. Get a heart attack.
  3. Laziness.
